A neo-western with a style similar to Kent Haruf, who is one of my favorite authors. This is the story of a man with an amazing talent for fiddling that was destroyed when, as a prison guard, he was tortured and disfigured by an inmate during a long-ago prison riot in a Montana state penitentiary. This event has placed Wes in a downward spiral, but can Wes forgive and regain his faith, or will he remain vigilant in keeping his torturer imprisoned?
