If you were a fan of the Junie B. Jones books and wondered what she might have been like in middle school, meet Julia. She is not having a good start to her summer. Her friends are out of town, her beloved dog recently died, and she has been forced by her mother to try out for the summer community production of the Wizard of Oz. Since one of her main troubles is that she is very short, she predictably gets the role of Munchkin. But as the summer progresses, she finds friends and mentors in a fellow Munchkin and an elderly (in age only!) artist neighbor. As these relationships develop, they help her express her unique way of thinking in this heartwarming book.
