Any gardeners out there? Is the memory of a surplus (ok, a glut!) of vegetables or fruit still fresh on your mind? Would you like some creative and tasty new ideas that go beyond zucchini bread and applesauce? I tested several of these recipes, and not only were they very good, they used up significant quantities of produce. The writing is friendly, the pictures are mouthwatering, and the flavors are bold and creative. Two caveats: One, take the time to read through the recipes and plan ahead. These make good projects for a weekend afternoon, but are not the best 20 minute meals. Two, these are whole food, not health food, recipes. Lots of veggies– lots of cheese and butter and sugar! A flexible baker could easily find ways to cut back.
