If you like American history, this is a terrific read. The research that went into the book was thorough, with primary sources and personal interviews. In the 1920s, the members of the Osage Indian tribe were the richest people in the world. Why? They had two negotiators with the great foresight to negotiate both reservation land and mineral rights ownership when the contract for their Oklahoma reservation was drawn up at a time when most Indian reservations were owned by the United States government. Then oil was discovered on their reservation and land leases were sold to oil companies for huge amounts of money. Then the murders began…
